In this SPARK-BIH National Gene and Cell Therapies Webinar, Dr. Sarah Weschke will share insights on how the early incorporation of patients’ expertise and experiences in research enhances relevance and patient-centeredness, ultimately fostering the successful translation of findings into clinical practice.

This session will provide an overview on different approaches and methods for patient engagement in health research.

Dr. Sarah Weschke

Dr. Sarah Weschke leads the Patient & Stakeholder Engagement (PSE) efforts at the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) at Charité QUEST Center for Responsible Research. Since 2019, she has been developing strategies to integrate meaningful patient engagement in health research. With a background in psychology and clinical dementia research, she actively collaborates with national networks on participatory research. Sarah emphasizes the importance of early patient involvement to enhance study relevance and facilitate the translation of research into clinical practice, a priority now increasingly demanded by funders and guidelines.
