From SPARK to Startup: RNA Editing and Translational Innovation
SPARK GLOBAL is pleased to invite the global SPARK community to an upcoming SPARK GLOBAL Webinar. This session will feature Dr. Jin Billy Li, Professor of Genetics at Stanford University, who will share his experience participating in the SPARK at Stanford program and how it supported the translation of academic research into successful biotechnology startups.
Dr. Li’s research focuses on RNA editing mediated by ADAR enzymes from two complementary perspectives. He co-developed technologies to harness ADAR enzymes for RNA base editing, work that led to the co-founding of AIRNA, which has raised $245 million in funding. In parallel, his laboratory has uncovered the role of RNA editing in suppressing RNA-mediated autoimmunity, forming the scientific foundation of Mangrove Therapeutics. Both projects were initially supported by the SPARK Program at Stanford.
