In this SPARK-BIH National Gene and Cell Therapies Lunch Time Webinar, Dr. Bettina Otto will provide a concise overview of key national German funding opportunities that support innovative research and translational development in the life sciences, with a particular focus on early-stage projects and startup-oriented funding — even without having an established company.
This 30-minute session will introduce and compare several important funding instruments designed to bridge academic research and real-world application. Participants will gain practical guidance on eligibility, application strategies, and how to position their ideas for successful funding.
Dr. Bettina Otto is a Startup Consultant and Technology Scout at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. She supports researchers from Charité and the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) in translating innovative ideas into early-stage startups, including funding acquisition and continued support throughout funded projects. Previously, she worked as a Startup Consultant at the University of Hamburg, supporting life science and medical researchers and fostering collaborations with small and medium-sized enterprises. Dr. Otto holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge.
